THE SMALL TOWN OF JACKSONVILLE WAS ABOUT TO HOUSE HUNDREDS OF P.O.W.'S [prisoners of war] . UNEXPECTING PATTY HAD NO CLUE THEY WERE COMING. PATTY WHO WAS TWELVE WORKED FOR HER DAD IN HIS LITTLE STORE. AFTER THE WORLD WAR 2 P.O.W.'S GOT THERE THEY ALL BOUGHT STRAW HATS AT PATTYS DAD'S STORE. ONE P.O.W. NAMED ANTON STOLE PATTYS HEART. ONE DAY ANTON ESCAPED AND FLED TO PATTY'S HOUSE. PATTY LET HIM IN HER SECRET ROOM. SHE GAVE HIM FOOD FOR A COUPLE OF NIGHTS. AFTER A FEW NIGHTS HE JUMPED ON A TRAIN AND GOT KILLED BY COPS. PATTY HAS TO GO TO REFORMATORY FOR GIRLS. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR READERS WHO LOVE ACTION AND LOVE STORIES.
